UPDATE ON ABATTOIR UNDERAGED GIRLS MOLESTATION: GIRLS RETURNED WITHOUT HELP FROM GOVERNMENT, FACES STIGMATIZATION, ONE ALMOST GOT RAPPED AGAIN...
The 8 underaged girls allegedly molested sexually in Abattoir, Jos, Plateau State by a man known as Simon kpefouri also alleged to be a Lebanese have returned home to their parents after being in Plateau State Government custody for about 4 weeks after the incident.
One of the parent who spoke with The Grassroots Watch blogspot expressed her disappointment when there is no help in sight.
She narrated how her daughter, 13, is facing stigmatization in the society and how a man known as a Pastor almost raped her again.
The concerned mother possit "Up to now we are yet to hear from the government, when they took the girls our prayers was that they will help the girls but when we went to bring back our daughters nothing was given to them apart from feeding, no councelling while they were in government' custody".
She reveled that the only help the government promised is to assist them educationally on the condition that when they perform well in school after assessment.
She added "Since my daughter returned home she has been remorseful and remained indoors, I sent her one day to grind tomatoes within the community and people started calling her names and pointing hands at her, the stigma traumatized her and now she is not free to step out of the house again".
Speaking on her daughter, "She is a very talented girl, she writes songs and stories, she would pick pieces of material, cut them and sow them with needle, she has a passion to learn telloring".
The perplexed mother further narrated "An incident happened when she returned, a Pastor that lives within the community came to our house on Wednesday last week, a day after we brought her back home, while we were away, he asked her to come to his house but she took her younger ones along, when he saw them together, he gave her N20 to buy biscuits for the children and send then home so that he can do what he had in mind with her, she came home and didn't go back to his house. She confided in me and told me what happened, he came back again the following day and invited her again, this time she alerted me, I asked her to play along so that we can catch him with evidence, so she went to his house knowing that I will be behind her, when she entered his house he gave her N680 and he started touching her wanting to have sex with her, after strugling to free herself from his grip she cunningly asked him to remove his clothes, when he pulled down his trauser we immediately pushed the door and entered and caught him half nekade, but because we are women he overpowered us and run away. Since that day he fled he has not returned home, this is one week ago. We have reported the case to the police and the youth leader. We took one pair of his shoes while he was fleeing".
"I really wish someone can help me take my daughter away from this environment and train her in school and also on hand trade. I am so afraid for her, the stigma is affecting her negatively and she is in primary 4 now" the mother cries.
As at time of filling this report all efforts to get government's side of the story proved abortive as calls and sms put across to the Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development were not responded.
