PPA EMERGES STRONGER AND UNITED AFTER CONGRESS, DESOLVES CARETAKER COMMITTEE, SETS UP ELCOM

The Plateau State Publishers Association has emerged stronger and more united after its Congress held Sunday at its temporary secretariat, Kalwa shopping mall l, Zarmaganda, Jos. The Congress in its meeting decided to dedolve the Shabul Mazadu caretaker led exco after Godfrey Sunwar moved a motion for the desolution of the exco having expended its 6months tenure within which it was to run the association and conduct an election. The association was bedeviled by an alleged maliciously sponsored write up by a non treasable writer who whipped up sentiments to gain the Governors sympathy for the then caretaker chairman Shabul Mazadu just a week before congress. The sexually molested girls in Jos-Abattior have cried out for help from government, NGO's and good citizens to help them learn a trade while schooling. The Grassroots Watch traced most of the girls to their homes as a follow up to yesterday's event. An 11 year old who is 5 months pregnant said she has never been to any hospital for antenatal care. She disclosed that she use to go and carry out house chores for the said Lebanese and he pays her N200 or N500 but often force her to have canal knowledge of her. Her sister who is also a victim narrated how the man takes advantage of the girls that work for him as househelps. From what The Grassroots Watch deduce from an interview with the minors who are mostly from 15 years bellow, poverty is the bane of the predicament that befeld them. UPDATE ON JOS ABATTOIR CHILDREN MOLESTATION SAGA

The residence of the Lebanese man alleged to have been involved in sexual molestation of under aged girls in Abattoir, Jos has been vandalised by irate youths in the area. The Grassroots Watch who went to the house in company of security agents discovered that while the security was trying to calm the situation at the police post where were beaten by the irate youths who took the advantage of concentration of security personnel at the Police outpost to sneak into than mans house and vandalised it. On entering the house, the team of security personnel saw the ransacked house in shambles. Items in the house were vandalised, destroyed and carted away. The next neighbour who is also a Lebanese, popularly known as God father was also attacked, his phones snached, cars vandalised and he escaped with degrees of injury. Restiveness that followed the arrest and subsequent bail of a Lebanese man living at Lebanese quarters in Jos-abattoir area alleged to be taking advantage of under age girls has been brought under control by joined security operatives. The Lebanese who was arrested yerterday and detained at the Abattoir Police outpost following a tip-off about his nefarious activities of sexual molestation of underaged girls he camps in his house, attracted youths in the area who got a hint that he has been released on bail. The youths thronged to the police outpost in their hundreds this afternoon demanding the Police to produce the said man. The under aged girls ranging from below 10 years to about 15 years numbering about 10 were brought to the Police post for debriefing, in sighting the innocent girls, the youths baricated the gate of the Police station refusing to allow the girls to be taken to the hospital until the accused Lebanese was brought out.
