NORMALCY RESTORED IN GIRING ABATTOIR, JOS

Restiveness that followed the arrest and subsequent bail of a Lebanese man living at Lebanese quarters in Jos-abattoir area alleged to be taking advantage of under age girls has been brought under control by joined security operatives.
The Lebanese who was arrested yerterday and detained at the Abattoir Police outpost following a tip-off about his nefarious activities of sexual molestation of underaged girls he camps in his house, attracted youths in the area who got a hint that he has been released on bail.

The youths thronged to the police outpost in their hundreds this afternoon demanding the Police to produce the said man.
The under aged girls ranging from below 10 years to about 15 years numbering about 10 were brought to the Police post for debriefing, in sighting the innocent girls, the youths baricated the gate of the Police station refusing to allow the girls to be taken to the hospital until the accused Lebanese was brought out.
The timely intervention of the ADS- Security of the DSS, the DPO, Community Police and other security agents conveyed the Press to where the Lebanese was detained so as to assure the youths that the man is in custody and not released as speculated.
The testimony of Press men that saw the man in detention could not persuade the youths as they were still demanding the man be handed over to them.

Some of the affected girls who spoke to The Grassroots Watch confessed that the man who employed them as house helps with the agreement that he will be paying their school fees however takes advantage of them by sexually molesting them.
Two of the girls who are living with him are said to be pregnant.

The situation almost got out of hand when an agreement could not be reached with the youths who started pelting stones and the security agents responded by firing teargass and gun shots to dispassed the already aggrieved youths.
As at time of filing this report, normalcy has returned as the youth leader was seen addressing the youths sueing for peace and calm.

SCHOOL OF NURSING LAFIA INDICTED OF MALPRACTICES AND EXTORTION

The School of Nursing and Midwifery, Lafia is currently battling to safeguard its image over alleged sharp practices ranging from exams malpractices and extortion of money from some gullible students.
