PLATEAU INTERRELIGIOUS COUNCIL HOLDS INAUGURAL MEETING

Monday, 26th April 2021.
Jos, Plateau state,
Nigeria
In an unending quest to entrench enduring Peace in Plateau State, the Plateau State Inter-Religious Council (IRC) held its inaugural meeting on Monday April 26, 2021 with a promise not to undertake the task ahead of it through a lens of “which group wins or loses but to mutually deliberate on issues bordering on Peace and peaceful co-existence with true religious eye or divine touch”.
You will recall that the Governor of Plateau State recently inaugurated the State Interreligious Council as part of his vision to build a stable, inclusive and united plateau that is at peace with itself and neighbors.
The IRC commend the Governor, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong for setting up the Council; the Co-Chairmen of the council, Rev. Prof. Pandang Yamsat (former President, Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN), His Royal Highness, Muhammed Sambo Haruna III, Emir of Wase and Chairman, Jama’atul Nasril Islam, JNI Plateau State and all members of the Council for their expression of commitment to work across religious lines to deepen the Peace through the promotion of interreligious freedom and interfaith dialogue.
The IRC calls on all stakeholders and Citizens to support and cooperate with the Council in their effort to build bridges of mutual understanding as well as transform our Peace and security landscape for good.
