GOV LALONG LAUNCHES E-PORTAL FOR PROCUREMENTS
In its quest to open up governance through public procurement, the Plateau State Government has developed and launched an electronic procurement portal (e-procurement portal) for its public procurements.
The e-procurement portal which was deployed virtual on Friday through zoom by the Plateau State Bureau of Public Procurement was witnessed by many people across the globe.
The general public who intend to do business with Plateau State Government can now log in to plateaustatebpp.com or plateaustatebpp.portal to view advertised contracts, works or services as well as apply.
The deployment of the electronic portal will usher in the e- procurement processes which will enhance good governance, transparency, accountability and value for money are what the electronic procurement will bring to bear on the lean finances of the State, the Director General Bureau for Public Procurement, Dogo said.
The portal for e-procurement processes is in line with best practices in Public procurement.
As one of the few States to deploy e-procurement Portal, the entire process is automated leading to efficiency and effectiveness of time in doing business.
The DG stated that "the portal is designed to carry out such functions as;
E-Procurement Plan
E-Registration of contractors and revalidation of registration status of Contractors, Suppliers and Service Providers already registered.
E-Advertisement and Solicitation for quotations.
E-Bidding and e-evaluation of bids or tenders including e-award".
Dogo revealed that "Ministries, Departments’ and Agencies (MDAs) will be expected to use technology to drive the procurement processes and to this end, the Plateau State Bureau of Public Procurement has today rolled out the e—procurement portal in conjunction with the Plateau Sate Information, Communication and Technology Development Agency (PICTDA).
While congratulating his Excellency the Governor and people of Plateau State, a World Bank e-procurement specialist and the consultant to PBPP, Mr Adesina Mukulo said Governor Lalong has taken a lead and he is proud of his commitment in being one of the first Governors in the country to go electronic on Procurement.
Also commending Governor Lalong on this feat, the CEO, JOLEX Construction company, Chief Chinedu Okponwa said what the Governor has done is a very welcomed development that will change the narratives on the ease of doing business.
